Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick Review of 1995 and Ruby Slipper. I decided to try out Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipsticks after seeing Authentically Ella model Iced Mocha on her Instagram stories. She said the formulation was very comfortable to wear, and after checking the price, I was sold!
I mean I love my Huda Liquid lipstick but it is pricey, so I was happy to try a cheaper alternative with the same colour range.
I got the shades 1995 which is a warm nude and Ruby Slipper, which is a deep berry shade, which was actually requested by a client for my makeup artist business.
I have very different feelings about these shades you’ll find out in the review below!
HOW MUCH IS IT?
The Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick retails for £11.50 putting it in a more affordable category of liquid lipsticks I’ve reviewed so far.
WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?
There are 28 shades available in this range on Beauty Bay.
WHAT COLOURS DID I BUY?
I got 1995 and Ruby Slipper.
HOW DOES IT WEAR?
This is where the two formulations differ. 1995 the nude shade wears really well. I can eat or drink and have absolutely no problems with it, and by the end of the night, it still leaves a nice stain on the lips.
Ruby Slipper is, and it pains me to say this, absolutely fricking terrible. The colour drags on the lips and it is really difficult to blend out. My client ended up doing her lips herself as it was so difficult for me to work with. I would not recommend this colour at all.
Ruby Slipper Swatch
WOULD I RECOMMEND IT?
If you’re just dipping your toes into liquid lipsticks, then I think Gerard Cosmetics is affordable, comfortable to wear and long lasting. I’d recommend the shade 1995 but not Ruby Slipper. I’d like to try the reds and pinks to see how they hold up.
I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know what you think in the comments below.
